The Utrecht Student Choir and Orchestra (USKO) consists of approximately 150 students, making it one of the largest student music companies in the Netherlands! At the USKO there are students from all kinds of studies with a common passion: making music. The USKO was founded in 1945 with the aim to make classical music, especially that of J.S. Bach, accessible to young people and connect using music. Every year, the USKO performs a work by Bach in a 3-year cycle: the St. Matthew Passion, the St. John Passion and the Hohe Messe. The USKO has three concert series per academic year: the Bach program and two other programs. With the Bach program, the USKO will go on a rehearsal camp (the Bach camp during the Christmas holidays) and also on tour abroad. Stijn Berkouwer has been our permanent conductor since September 2021. In addition to rehearsals and concerts, the USKO also organizes many activities for its members, including parties, open stages, an intro weekend and much more.

If you would like to participate, come and take a look at our open rehearsals! Unfortunately, the open rehearsals for the fall have already taken place, but the next open rehearsals will take place in the spring. The orchestra rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM and the choir rehearses from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM on Thursdays. You have to audition for the orchestra, but there are no auditions for the choir.

Rehearsal: Wednesday evenings (orchestra)/Thursday evenings (choir), 20:00-22:30
