Pulsating beats, sizzling solos, and electrifying rhythms: that’s what defines the Utrecht Student Big Band. These groovy students turn every occasion into a party. The band consists of 19 students at the University or College of Utrecht who, in addition to their studies, perform at a high level together. With their repertoire, they introduce a diverse audience to a fresh and contemporary take on jazz music. The Utrecht Student Big Band enthusiastically explores various music styles and influences: jazz, soul, funk, world music, pop, Latin – it all makes an appearance in their sets The band is a welcomed guest at festivals, parties, and galas, but they also organize grand project concerts marked by innovation and collaborations with inspiring guest artists like Benjamin Herman, Eric Vloeimans, Shirma Rouse, Wouter Hamel, Jan van Duikeren, and Trijntje Oosterhuis.
